PHASE Austria
In April 2007 a group of friends and family of Dr. Gerda Pohl founded a non-profit association in Austria, in order to create a base for supporting PHASE projects in Nepal here, too.
We offer our members an insight into the work done by PHASE in Nepal during meetings and presentations, but also information on Nepal as a country. They can get involved in a number of ways – from organising a flea market to going to Nepal to visit the projects villages.
As its first big project, PHASE Austria has taken on the financing of a new, earthquake-safer school in Hagam, Sindhupalchowk.
Please support PHASE development projects, become a member or make a donation.
If you would like some more information on PHASE Austria, please contact phaseaustria@gmx.at
PHASE Austria is a volunteer organisation, and we have managed to cover all additional cost through direct sponsors, e.g. the Erste Bank offered us a free account. Thus all donations actually go to PHASE projects in Nepal.

PHASE Austria executive board
At the moment, the executive committee of PHASE Austria are:
Maga. Brita POHL: (chair)
B. 1970, historian, works as part-time employee and as a
free translator.
"For years I have been interested in reasons for and effects of migration. Through improving the life chances of people in their home country, they are enabled to stay and shape their own future. PHASE offers people help they need without taking away their right to decide for themselves, and thereby empowers them."
Ing. Martin MAIER (vice chair)
B. 1973, health technician, works with Dade Behring
Austria GmbH, married, 4 children.
"Faced with the luxuries I seem to deem necessary for my own daily life, it makes sense to look beyond a little. PHASE offers me a possibility to get involved in projects which support people in helping themselves, and does this simply and without a big media hype. And this means getting one step closer to a fairer sharing of goods and resources on our planet."
Elisabeth STAMMINGER (secretary)
B. 15th February 1982 in Vienna, primary school teacher,
studies International Development.
"I got involved in PHASE Austria because it is very important for me to offer others real help. As this works very well through the network of PHASE worldwide and PHASE Nepal, I feel that my share of work with PHASE Austria truly makes sense."
Monika RETTENBACHER (vice secretary)
Born 1950, biomedical analyst, employee in a
veterinary clinic
Hobbies: hiking, biking, travel, reading
"Up until now I did my social responsibility directly and selectively. Now I want to help an organisation realise a long-term goal. I chose PHASE because I know and esteem one of its founders."
KOPF Reinhard (treasurer)
B. 1976, teacher, works at the Austrian Federal Economic
Chamber, married.
"I support PHASE because the projects are models of the modern idea of development cooperation in the sense of 'empowerment' and 'aiming towards release into independence'. I find this fascinating and worth supporting. I can also guarantee that contrary to most organisations working in this area, 100% of donations and membership fees to PHASE Austria actually go to the target country."
Mag. Ralph BRUNNER (vice treasurer)
B. 1970, political economist, works at the Austrian
Federal Economic Chamber.
"As a volunteer for SONNE International I visited development cooperation projects in Ethiopia. Seeing the devastating situation in Third World countries first-hand, I decided to expand my committment and support PHASE Austria. PHASE Austria offers efficient help for people in need without a bureaucratic overhead."
