PHASE Nepal

Established in 2006, by a group of development professionals involved in various sectors in Nepal, Practical Help Achieving Self Empowerment – PHASE Nepal, is a non governmental, non profit making, non political and equal opportunity providing organization, registered under Social Development Act, 2034 at District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and has been affiliated with Social Welfare Council of Nepal.

PHASE Nepal has a group of volunteer members (similar to trustees in the UK) who form an executive committee which meets every three months to monitor the organisations activities and budget and makes policy decisions.  Dr Gerda Pohl, one of the PHASE Worldwide trustees, travels to Nepal twice a year, to supervise the health projects, but also to maintain a good personal contact.

Sukhadev Sapkota

An advocate who works with the Kathmandu School of Law and gives invaluable legal advice to PHASE Nepal.

 

Vice Chair

Rajendra Karki

The most senior member of PHASE Nepal; he works for Unicef, having worked in various senior government roles in the past.

 

Secretary General

Rudra Neupane

A Civil Engineer, who works in the disaster management department of the United Nations office in Kathmandu, and gives a lot of his time to organisational development in PHASE.

Treasurer

Tara Bahadur Basnet

A successful Businessman who contributes his financial acumen and experience of the business world to PHASE programmes and is always prepared to step in when practical help is needed.

 

Executive Member

Dr Renu Prasai

Senior Consultant Paediatrician at the Kanti Children's Hospital in Kathmandu, and co-author of PHASE Clinical Guidelines. She offers training and advice to PHASE health workers in all matters regarding child health.

 

Executive Member

Dr Sheela Verma

Consultant Gynaecologist, former Director of the Maternity Hospital in Kathmandu, she takes the lead on women’s health policy in PHASE and has visited the UK in the course of the Cervical Cancer Cooperation programme with PHASE Worldwide and NNCTR.
