PHASE education programmes aim to raise levels of literacy and numeracy in remote communities, thereby giving children and adults more opportunities and choices. Education is a fundamental human right however many children in rural Nepal miss out; 8% of children in Nepal ages 5 to 9 years are not currently accessing any formal schooling, Dropout rates are high means that those who do enrol often don’t complete their education.
The most disadvantaged children are most affected by national problems, in remote villages, primary school completion rates are under 30% for boys and under 20% for girls. In many of the villages in which we work there are no functioning schools so school completion and literacy rates are currently closer to 0%. >Read More
